While no two pieces of my work are 100% alike, many are repeat “editions”. However in my “One-off” collection there is a far greater degree of difference between each specific design and each is truly one of a kind. Some may be members of a series and share certain characteristics, but nevertheless will have a unique individual character and identity. In this collection images shown online will be of the exact piece for sale, and once sold, will not be available again.
Click/hover here for a word about edition variability Each piece of my jewellery is an individually hand-decorated and hand-finished edition and therefore subject to minor fluctuations in shape, pattern, colour, size, and markings. No two pieces are 100% alike and unless described as one-off, the pictures shown here are indicative only and not a faithful representations of any specific piece that might be supplied, and the images shown may be from several different examples of the same design. and image fidelity Due to the natural clarity, transparency and reflectivity of the acrylic material, the shape of the items, and also the properties of the decorative materials, this jewellery can be very challenging to photograph. Images showing different sides, faces, angles and postures may cause the colours to appear quite different. Images are also very sensitive to camera settings, and lighting conditions including direction and colour temperature of the light, shadow and reflection which may also render very different results for even the same piece. Some or all the images used in this site may therefore have been adjusted to improve consistency between different photographs and render the images closer to our perception of the original piece. Finally every viewing device, whether computer, tablet, phone or printer will render the images differently due to model characteristics, settings, ambient light and image size and aspect ratio, and this further affects the fidelity of the image beyond our control.
Click/hover here to read about the plasticsThe plastic components are made from acrylic (PMMA) or other similar plastics and are formed by a variety of methods. Each piece has been decorated and assembled personally by Gail Klevan using various metallic foils and coloured compounds and backed with durable lacquers and varnishes. and the metal fittings Pierced-ear fittings are made from surgical steel (which contains between 6-13 % nickel but has a release rate of less than 0.5 µg/cm²/week of nickel and therefore comply with EU Nickel Directive 76/769/EEC and 94/27/EEC). Hooks for drop earrings are also made from either surgical steel (Margarita & Purple Rain) or sterling silver (Gilded Rose & Babbling Brook) and clip-on findings are made from gold plated brass or sterling silver plated brass, which also comply with EU Nickel Directives. Soft silicone sleeves for extra comfort are supplied with clip-on earrings. For those who are hyper-sensitive to nickel, sterling silver fittings can be supplied at extra cost. The metal tubes used in the chokers, neck and wrist cuffs are made of copper plated with either gold or nickel-free “white-bronze”. White bronze alloys contain tin, copper and zinc.
