One fine day in June, I took the train north to the picturesque and historic city of York – where I have been showing my work for many a year – to be the featured artist at the beautiful Pyramid Gallery.
Terry, Fi and the team were so welcoming and it was a pleasure and a privilege to meet some of the customers who have been enjoying my work for so long.
From April 8–13, 2019, I was in New York City. I was honoured to have been invited to the prestigious Museum of Arts and Design on Columbus Circle to exhibit at LOOT: MAD About Jewelry, the museum’s annual exhibition and sale of one-of-a-kind contemporary jewellery featuring designs from more than 50 emerging and acclaimed international jewelry artists.
“The Royal Academy’s bestselling jewellery line is by Barbara Rae RA and Gail Klevan”
“The Royal Academy can ask its Academicians — world-class artists who include the likes of Anselm Kiefer and David Hockney — to produce pieces. Its most successful jewellery line has been the collaboration between Barbara Rae RA, known for her vibrant palette, and Gail Klevan, a jeweller who makes painterly acrylic cufflinks, brooches, pendants and bangles.”
Notwithstanding all the difficulties and terrible tragedies of the Covid-19 pandemic it nevertheless brought a few good things such as greatly reduced pollution, urban quiet, wildlife returning to the cities, and opportunities to build relationships with neighbours. For me it also brought opportunities to design new ranges and to revamp my website. I also found time for my other love, furniture and tried my had at some long overdue re-upholstering and I made a mosaic table for the patio.
