PhotographyOne of the biggest challenges in creating this web site is finding images of Gail's work which do justice to the finished article. Because the pieces use the optical qualities of the acrylic, they are often very difficult to capture in a graphic image. Unwanted highlights and both internal and external reflections interfere with the image. Often the contrast and colours vary in different lights, and it hard to get even lighting throughout the piece. Even bringing the whole object into sharp focus is difficult and they can lose all depth and look completely flat and two-dimensional. In addition the resolution of the best images which give a better feel of the textures of the decorations and give depth to the pieces would be too slow to display on the internet. This is not to apologise for these images, but viewers should be aware that the sharpness, texture, colour and clarity of the original pieces is not always fully apparent in these pictures. Those who know the work of the Austrian painter Gustav Klimt and have seen the originals will understand how reproductions can fail to capture the textures and richness and light of the original work.
